Foil and film laser perforation and sheeter systems

Precise, flexible and ready for the next order without downtime. Zenna Laser develops modular laser systems for perforation, cutting, scoring and sheeting of thin films and foils. The systems are built for production environments where materials, patterns and sheet formats change regularly, but quality still needs to stay stable.

Instead of relying on knives, dies or mechanical perforation tools, every process step is controlled digitally. Switching from one product to the next can be as simple as loading a new recipe. No dedicated tooling, no extended changeover, no unnecessary downtime.

Precise processing for sensitive films and foils

Thin films and foils leave little room for error. A small amount of deformation, delamination, coating damage or inconsistent edge quality can be enough to take the material out of specification. Laser processing avoids mechanical contact and applies controlled energy exactly where it is needed.

This makes it possible to create clean cuts, perforations, kiss cuts, score lines and defined sheet lengths in materials such as PET film, BOPP, label stock, medical-grade films, laminates and specialty foils. Zenna Laser configures the system around the material and the required result, using CO₂ laser sources for many polymer films and short-pulse laser options for more sensitive materials, ultra-fine features or minimal heat input.

Digital perforation without mechanical tooling

Every product has its own perforation challenge. Packaging may need uniform micro-holes, functional films may require changing perforation density, and medical or electronic applications can demand exact pore geometry across thousands of repeated holes.

With laser perforation, hole size, pitch, pattern geometry and perforation density are defined in software. Each hole is created individually by the laser, without rotary dies, punching tools or mechanical force on the film. Pattern changes happen digitally, making the process ideal for variable product runs, frequent design changes and materials that cannot tolerate mechanical stress.

From roll material to finished sheets

Zenna Laser systems can combine unwinding, web transport, perforation, cutting, kiss cutting, scoring, sheeting and stacking in one continuous production flow. Roll material enters the system, passes through the laser processing zone and is cut to the programmed sheet length before leaving the machine as finished sheets or processed material.

The value is in the control. Sheet length, perforation pattern and cut geometry are all software settings. When the next order requires a different format or pattern, the operator changes the recipe instead of adjusting mechanical tooling. This keeps production moving and makes the system suitable for multiple materials, formats and order sizes.

Controlled output through software

Every job runs from a stored recipe, including perforation pattern, hole size, pitch, cut geometry, kiss cut depth, sheet length, laser power, line speed and process monitoring parameters. This gives operators a clear way to switch between products and gives process engineers the data needed to maintain consistent output across shifts and production runs.

During production, the system can monitor key process variables and flag deviations in real time. This helps keep the process stable, reduces manual adjustments and supports repeatable quality from one order to the next.

Discuss your foil or film processing needs

Not sure if laser processing is the right fit for your material or application? Zenna Laser can help you find out.

We start by looking at your material, process and production requirements before recommending a configuration. A material test is often the best starting point. Send us your foil or film, and we process it under controlled conditions. We return the samples and remaining material, so you can evaluate the result before making a decision.

Zenna Laser can support you with material testing, process validation, configuration advice for perforation, cutting, kiss cutting, scoring and sheeting, integration into existing production lines and laser source selection for materials beyond standard CO₂ processing.
