Zenna is adding another new feature to its highly automized Falcon OPW airbags cutting lines: The FlexMarker Ink.

A client asked us to help improving the traceability of OPW airbags. They wanted to link each individual airbag with production date, time, shift, batch, roll ID, operator, humidity, temperature etcetera. Labels were not reliable enough, especially for silicon coated products. One solution offered was to mark an OCR- ID with the laser, but we encountered hesitation, as it would require a long lasting change-procedure with the client's customer.

Now we present the FlexMarker Ink, a module of five inkjet printers that add unique codes and twistlines to each OPW airbag. An advanced positioning system moves the inkjets automatically to the right position at the start of every job. And an unique starting code can be generated or received form your ERP system or filled in by the operator.

The FlexMarker Ink can print characters from 4mm - 15mm. It works with high volume ink containers, that have a 'low-level' and 'empty' warning. The printing head will be covered at idle time. To prevent losing the code when rubbing or wetting the code, every airbag has three codes printed at start, middle and end of the part. The FlexMarker Ink is available as option on new lines, but also on our existing OPW lines. In combination with Zenna's in line Parts Inspection module, all measurement data of dimensions, holes and margin check Seam-to-Cut over the full profile can be stored with the same airbag ID.
