Laser welding can be considered as a high-quality substitute for both spot welding and seam welding. Within the various different industries, either automotive, medical devices or processing equipment, laser welding has entered and is gaining importance. Laser welding offers many advantages, leading to a lower Total Cost of Ownership.

The six top advantages of laser welding are:

  • High welding speeds
  • Little deformation due to low heat input
  • Accurate repeatability
  • High accuracy
  • Good control of welding depth
  • Flexible design

There are two types of lasers used for metal welding, determined by their wavelength; CO2 based lasers (10.64 micrometer) and diode generated fiber lasers (1,6 micrometer). Whereas CO2 welding offers a smoother weld quality, welding with a Fiber laser is faster and requires less energy.

In 1990 Zenna , formerly part of the Dutch Omega group, designed and build the first welding machine for the production of dimple plates. These stainless steel panels are used in cooling tanks, chillers and evaporators for the dairy, beer and chemical industry.
Zenna's PlateWeld is able to weld dimple plates fast and accurately, using a CO2 laser or a fiber laser source.

Why Zenna Laser Solutions for laser welding?
